External Description: About the Role

The Director of M&A and Life CFO role will drive development and execution of Life M&A strategy (including reinsurance), drive Life strategic initiatives (e.g. manage mortality, stabilize Life earnings), and manage Life financials and reporting. The role will report to the Head of M&A, and work closely with external advisors (consultants, bankers, lawyers), Business, Actuarial, Accounting, Risk Management, and IT teams to execute the team's objectives.

What You'll Bring

  • Lead Life M&A and reinsurance transaction negotiations, manage existing life reinsurance relationships (including with banking and actuarial advisors), lead Life actuarial analyses and due diligences, including any subsequent investor support and post-transaction closing activities.
  • Lead development and execution of key Life strategic initiatives and transactions (internal and external), including various ways to optimize risk transfer, earnings, and capital
  • Manage Life financials, including impact from reinsurance transactions (for GAAP, stat and economic), and provide insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Drive rigor in strategic plan development for Life segment and set financial guidance to ensure continued discipline on financial metrics
  • Provide thought partnership in Life assumptions setting and experience study analyses, working closely with Actuarial and Assumptions, and the Life business teams
  • Create clarity by combining business judgement with technical understanding to structure the problem and provide a data-driven view
  • Build consensus and effectively influence mid-level and senior-level stakeholders
  • Lead work with external advisors (consultants primarily, but also collaborating with bankers and lawyers)
  • Manage a team responsible for financial analysis, monthly business review reporting, quarterly reporting, P&L management, sales projections, expense budgeting, etc.

The total targeted compensation range for this position is $313,600 - $447,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.

What You'll Bring

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Management and/or Mathematics
  • 10 years relevant experience in Insurance, M&A, or Consulting
  • M&A advisory experience
  • Strong understanding of Life insurance products
  • Strong analytical capabilities, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive project management experience

Preferred
  • FSA credential strongly preferred
  • Proven relationship building background and ability to effectively interact with external and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and mentor a small team

SKILLS

  • Financial Forecasting and Modeling:Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results.
