Equitable is seeking a dynamic Director of Strategy to join our Wealth Management team. In this pivotal role, you will partner with senior leadership to shape and drive the next phase of business growth. You'll be responsible for defining strategic priorities, developing actionable business plans, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and monitoring industry trends and competitive movements to ensure we remain ahead of the curve. This position offers a hybrid work model (remote and in-office) and can be based in either our Charlotte, NC or New York, NY office.
Key Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
• Define growth strategies and frameworks that create clarity and drive action.
• Lead the annual strategic planning process, including tier 1/tier 2 planning and coordination with Finance and key stakeholders.
• Support strategic planning and budgeting processes in close partnership with Finance.
Value Proposition & Business Development
• Continuously enhance the Wealth Management value proposition for both advisors and clients.
• Support M&A discussions and evaluate strategic opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as a key liaison to broader Equitable Holdings (EQH) partners, including Finance, Operations, and other business units.
• Prepare strategic documents and presentations for senior audiences including the Board, senior management, and investor relations.
Market Intelligence & Industry Insights
• Maintain a medium-to-long term outlook on industry trends and competitive actions.
• Conduct market research and gather insights to inform business decisions.
• Deeply understand the Wealth Management industry and its key players.
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, or a related field
• Prior industry experience in financial services, insurance, or a top-tier strategy consulting firm
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and spreadsheet modeling
• Experience leading change through agile, adaptive leadership and change management practices
• Demonstrated financial acumen with the ability to craft compelling narratives through data
• Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and ability to identify key opportunities for Wealth Management growth
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA degree desired
• Exceptional communication skills-verbal, written, and presentation-with the ability to distill complex topics into clear executive summaries
• Strong grasp of business models and value creation levers
• Demonstrated structured problem-solving capabilities
• Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and drive strategic outcomes
• Conceptual and forward-thinking mindset with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders effectively
Skills
Data Gathering and Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques and processes; ability to utilize data analysis tools to identify factors influencing business performance and to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and customer base.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
Market Research: Knowledge of market research; ability to collect, collate and analyze information about existing or potential markets and market needs.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Storytelling: Knowledge of concepts and ability to plan, create and present business proposals, initiatives and ideas by storytelling actual business scenarios that are situation-specific, engaging, memorable and persuasive as compared to one-way, fact-based presentations.
