Equitable is currently looking to hire an insurance product tax attorney within the Insurance Products Practice Group, which is a part of Equitable's Legal and Compliance organization. The role includes providing tax advice to Equitable's retirement product business areas related to its annuity and life insurance product offerings. Additionally, this role will provide advice related to tax issues resulting from the administration of the company's products.

Key Job Responsibilities
As a key member of the team your responsibilities would include:
• Counsel in connection with various federal income and estate tax law and compliance matters that may arise concerning the design, sale (or exchange of) and administration of variable insurance products, including the review and revision of variable insurance product disclosures and related point-of-sale materials.
• Provide education and advice to product, sales, and service teams in connection with qualified and nonqualified plan tax law and compliance.
• Provide legal support in connection with annuity and life insurance product development, administration and implementation.
• Advise on existing and new statutory and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
• Provide general corporate tax advice in connection with the company's payroll, benefit taxation, information reporting and withholding, and other tax matters as assigned.
The total targeted compensation range for this position is $274,250 - $294,500. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.

Required Qualifications
• Juris Doctorate degree.
• 5 years of experience with a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department with a focus on federal income tax law issues as they relate to the design, distribution, and administration of variable annuity and life insurance products.
• Ability to manage and prioritize complex matters.
• Established analytical and counseling skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Capability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Defined sense of ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
