The Future Advisor Training Program provides a unique opportunity to explore the financial services industry through hands-on learning, mentorship, and professional development. Interns work alongside experienced Financial Professionals, gaining exposure to Wealth Management, Financial Protection solutions, and Estate Planning strategies while developing the skills and industry knowledge needed to launch a career in financial services. The program combines self-paced, virtual, and branch-based training to enhance professional development and industry knowledge.

This position offers an onsite work schedule, with 10 hours per week.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Assist financial professionals in preparing for client and prospective client meetings by conducting research, analyzing client portfolios, assessing client needs, and supporting the development of financial planning recommendations.
  • Research financial markets, investment solutions, and industry trends to support client discussions and business development initiatives.
  • Observe client meetings, presentations, and sales interactions to gain insight into financial advisory practices and client engagement strategies.
  • Complete training on financial products, compliance requirements, industry regulations, and professional development topics relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Contribute to market development activities through prospecting, networking opportunities, and collaboration with financial professionals and team members.

Dates: 10-15-week program starting in early September
Hourly Rate: $22/hour
Location: Richmond, VA
WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (junior or senior)
  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, or an equivalent field
    Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Preferred
  • Leadership experience through campus, community, athletic, or extracurricular involvement.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial services, wealth management, or financial advisory careers.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and results-oriented approach.

SKILLS
  • Adapts and learns: Actively learns and adapts through experimentation when tackling new problems and situations, using both successes and failures to develop and learn.
  • Business Development: Gain exposure to prospecting, networking, relationship-building, and market development strategies.
  • Practice Management: Learn the operational, organizational, and client service aspects of running a successful financial services practice.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills: Develop the ability to communicate with clients and colleagues through presentations, discussions, and professional interactions.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a foundational understanding of wealth management, financial protection, and financial planning solutions.
