The Senior Financial Analyst - Individual Retirement Business Unit is a member of the Business Area CFO team within the Finance organization supporting the Individual Retirement & Equitable Advisors business operations. In this highly visible role you will have the opportunity to help develop the long-range plans for Individual Retirement and Equitable Advisors; drive efforts to improve efficiency and productivity of the organization; and partner with senior leaders to identify, evaluate, prioritize and deliver strategic initiatives across the business. The Business Area CFO team provides financial guidance and support to the business areas within Equitable.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial analysis, including business case support, monthly business review reporting, P&L management, sales projections, expense budgeting, etc
  • Build financial models that help forecast business outcomes under various scenarios
  • Help to identify, assess, and evaluate new business opportunities, including new market and product/service ideas; and help support the analysis and comparison of alternative opportunities for entering new markets and adopting new technologies
  • Research competitors in the market to provide management with meaningful analysis to benchmark financials vs. peers
  • Analyze data to provide strategic insights; identify issues, structure problems and generate actionable recommendations using formal problem solving frameworks and critical thinking
  • Day-to-day focus on root cause analysis of low-to-medium complexity problems where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or procedures
  • Create dashboards with actionable metrics to help manage and understand trajectory of business
  • Develop presentations for senior/executive management which provide insight and recommendations on complex financial topics
  • Be an active and eager member of the FPU team; lead by example in inspiring high performance culture



#LI-EQH1The Finance Business Partner Unit requires the ability to balance deep financial analysis with stakeholder management executive communication. A successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple, complex assignments and competing priorities and must be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment. The team works with a results driven approach and transparent communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 4 years experience working with large corporation(s) either in a financial analysis role, internal/external strategy and/or business partner role
  • 2 years experience working in the insurance industry and/or in the actuarial sciences space


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • Insurance/Financial licenses, Six Sigma, Project Management, CPA, CFA and/or actuarial certifications a plus
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems and drive change
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Established written and verbal communication skills, including the ability develop and deliver presentations that synthesize complex problems and recommended solutions
  • Prioritization skills with a clear focus on results
  • Self-motivated and Self-directed work style who seeks regular proactive feedback from supervisor
  • Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and work within a fast paced, project driven and team environment. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and professional skills in dealing with management
  • Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry
